Abstract

Grinding process acoustic monitoring main principles and substantiation of its application are expounded by way of examples of the laboratory and commercial jet mills operational acoustic parameters. The necessity of registering two factors of grinding efficiency acoustic monitoring is stated: maximum amplitude (depending on particle size) and frequency of maximum amplitude signals appearance. The relation between maximum amplitude and ground product dispersion factor is shown. Signal acoustical activity permissible variation interval is determined with respect to maximum permissible amplitude values in order to control product quality. Criteria are proposed for grinding efficiency estimation from the viewpoint of process optimization. It was established, that during process deviation from the norm, efficiency acoustical criteria values are decreased, and power intensity indicators are increased, respectively. Effect of waveguide location with respect to accelerating tube axis has been studied from the viewpoint of obtaining maximum useful acoustical information for the purposes of grinding technology optimization. The performed acoustic study permitted to propose mill operation optimality control algorithm. The established regularities will form the basis of operation control system for jet grinding installations, designed to produce micronsize powders from granular solid materials.
