Steel and Iron Castings in Rail Technology
24.06.2014, 18:46DIHAG Foundries SHB Stahl- und Hartgusswerk Bösdorf GmbH and Euro-Rail GmbH are exhibitors at this year‘s InnoTrans which will take place from 23 to 26 September 2014 in Berlin. The focus is on brake blocks: In hall 1.2, booth216 the foundries will inform about the economic advantages of grey cast iron blocks compared to plastic and LL blocks.
In addition to construction material for railway tracks and weights, Euro-Rail GmbH will concentrate on presenting brake blocks for locomotives and railway wagons. On the one hand, Eisenwerk Arnstadt GmbH will be exhibiting the Samson block for locomotives. This distinguishes itself from standard market products through a higher phosphorous alloy which reduces sparking and increases service life. On the other hand, Eisenwerk Arnstadt will exhibit the prototype of a combination block made of grey cast iron with integrated plastic. It combines the advantages of both materials and therefore distinguishes itself by its special braking reliability, at the same time supporting noise reduction. Euro-Rail GmbH – a merger of the foundries Euro Metall Kft., Odlewnia Żeliwa Bydgoszcz Sp. z o.o. and Eisenwerk Arnstadt GmbH – is a long-term partner and the principal supplier of many European state railways. The company invites interested professional visitors to inform themselves at the booth about the purely plastic-based block materials and their effects such as, for example, the higher wear on wheelsets.
SHB will inform visitors about the current industry trends such as high-strength cast steel in the rail vehicle construction sector and coupling bodies for automatic couplings.
In addition to a raw casting for an automatic coupling type C-Akv, the DIHAG subsidiary will also be exhibiting a frame for bogies, which are in use in London’s underground. They excel through high accuracy and strength. Thanks to their alloy components, they show a particularly high resilience even in the case of thin wall-thicknesses.
