SMS Concast. Štore Steel orders billet caster

Štore Steel from Štore, Slovenia, has ordered a new two-strand continuous caster for billets from SMS Concast, Switzerland. It will allow the company to cast high-alloy steel and spring steel grades of high quality in future. With this investment, Štore Steel will improve the quality of its products.

The new continuous caster will produce SBQ billets (Special Bar Quality) measuring 180 millimeters x 180 millimeters. With the new caster from SMS Concast, the customer will increase its production capacity from 150,000 tons per year to 300,000 tons per year.

Štore Steel is one of the leading producers of flat spring steel in Europe. The company produces steel in particular for the automotive industry.

Commissioning is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2014.
