This paper is dedicated to directions of new material application – nanosilicon. The purpose we pursue is to demonstrate the broad potential of using silicon nanoparticles and to identify those areas where this material can be successfully applied both from commercial and technological points of view. Being based on the information acquired from authoritative research companies: NanoMarkets LC, McKinsey&Company, etc, — it was defined most profitable applications for nanosilicon. The most ground-breaking and promising opportunity is photovoltaics. The solar battery market has been rapidly developing what is confirmed by the European Photovoltaic Industry Association prediction. According to their forecast, global consumption of solar electro energy will increase from 17 GW in 2010 to 44 GW in 2020. Nanosilicon batteries will be able to get a foothold on the photovoltaic market owing to low prices and the high degree of solar energy conversion. Nanosilicon prospects in the non-volatile memory industry are directly related to solving technological tasks. With the assistance of silicon nanoparticles, it will become possible further miniaturization of electronic devices and increase of memory. Significant volume of a potential market and optimistic forecasts of its development make angels turn to investments in the production of nanosilicon. The main obstacle on the way of developing nanosilicon fabrication may be competition from the side of alternative technologies targeted at solving the same problems (ferroelectric, ferromagnetic, ovonic or phase-change memories etc.). Nanosilicon technology commercialization in Russia is related to the thin-film transistors production what we can conclude taking into account a federal programme for extending the application of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags. Other area of the nanosilicon application may become lighting. The depth of market and greatest opportunities for its development allow to count on the positive financial performance in the case of the successful struggle against rivals producing lighting by different technologies. Due to biological properties of nanosilicon, this material can be widely used in the areas of medicine and cosmetics. There are examples of the successful nanosilicon application in cancer therapy (pSivida company) and creation of efficient cosmetics (New Age company). Possible areas of the nanosilicon application analysis allows to make a conclusion that creation of innovative start-ups based on the nanosilicon fabrication and application is a perspective direction for investments. It is confirmed by the prediction of the total nanosilicon product revenues growth from 150 mln. USD in 2010 to more than 2 bln. USD in 2016.
