This article describes the fulfilled and near-term outlook planned works on the optimization of the process control systems. The development of the process control systems was held in the Automation Department of the Technological Processes of Science and Production Association "RIVS". The works are presented in terms of three stages. The first optimization stage of the process control systems development on the processing plants is the introduction of modern specialized computer-added system (CAD system) of EPLAN Software & Service company. As a result, there was decreased the length of the work under the projects, with the increasing of the documentation quality. The efficiency of the project sector operation of the Automation Department of the Technological Processes increased by not less than 60-70%. The second stage is the creation of the digital-analog stand. Its basic purpose is to hold the complex and autonomous testings of the developed automated control systems and SCADA-systems. During the testings, there have been checked the mathematical securing and software of the processed control systems, along with the correctness of the developed documentation of the hardware of the process control systems. There were revealed the mistakes of the system assembly, which, in tote, decreases the time of development, setup and commissioning of both local automation systems and different automation upper layer systems. The third stage is the prospective intellectualization concept of the development processes. This concept is the creation and introduction of the intelligence design system, which operates on the knowledge base. There were considered the peculiarities of the structure and the separate elements of the intelligence design system, as well as its operating principles. According to the theoretic calculations, using the intelligence design system, the development time of the principle schemes decreases to 3,6 times, in comparison with the currently used CAD systems.
