Abstract

Physico-chemical and technological studies, which allowed development of advance techniques (a chlorous technique, electrolysis with inert anodes) for production aluminium and aluminium-based compounds, such as aluminium oxide (alumina) ar aluminium salts (coagulants), have been generalized. The techniques are served of strengthening of the rawmaterial base, extension of the complex use of raw material a reduction in electrical energy consumption and an improvement in environment situation. The physical and chemical investigations include establishing the dependence of reactivity of aluminum, aluminum hydroxide and oxide, and easy and complex compounds on their basis, contained in the aluminum-containing raw materials, with alkalis and acids on their structure; separating the aluminum compounds in water solutions form iron and silicon oxides; extracting germanium, gallium, scandium, molybdenum and another trace impurities; synthesis of a new generation of coagulants (aluminum hydroxochloride, mixed); designing principles to create materials inert anodes in three main areas: cermets, metal alloys, oxide compounds. The main conversions of the offered methods of integrated processing of aluminum-containing raw materials have had an enlarged empirical-plant and in some cases industrial testing with optimization of equipment-technological designing. The process regulations of the developed methods have been made and their technical and economical assessment which has shown that the technology is quite promising is performed. In a number of chemical industry and non-ferrous metallurgy factories the techniques were adopted for implementation, while about dozens of factories have adopted techniques for processing of aluminium-bearing raw materials to produce a variety products with a real economic effect.
