Abstract

For the purpose of economy of scarce and expensive platinum, if using it in the glass-melting devices for obtaining of the fiberglass, this article presents the following information:
– The development and using of the glass-melting devices with palladium use as a constructional material in the separate details, working at temperature to 1000 oС. It allowed to liberate more than one tone of platinum from a turnover of plants in 1966–1967.
– The development and successful mastering of the multicomponent platinum alloys, containing 25–35% of a palladium for the case details of the glass-melting devices, working at 1350–1450 оС. It allowed to save more than 10 tons of platinum in the 1970–1980-ies.
– The development of the high-rodium alloys with operating temperature to 1700–1750 оС. Currently, the glass-melting devices from the highrodium alloys are successfully applied at many plants for production of the fiberglass from the refractory glasses.
– The development of a way of covering the plasmaceramic coatings of any thickness on the outer side of the basic pants of the glass-melting device with the operation temperature to 1700 оС. It allowed to decrease the level of the dead weight losses of platinum metals for 20%.
– The development of a low-wettable alloy of Pt–Rh–Au system, and also the experimental fabrication technique of the glass-melting device with using the low-wettable alloy in the spinneret unit. It allowed to carry out the production of fiberglass from alkaline and optical glass.
– Improvement of fabrication technique of glassmelting device promotes to increase their term of operation. That makes the contribution to rational use of platinum metals.
