To ensure the safe operation of a Mine Hoisting Installation (MHI) – critical equipment for the transport of minerals and personnel – continuous monitoring of the condition of its key components, particularly steel ropes, is required. Improving the reliability of hoisting installations is a relevant scientific and practical task. In this regard, the article presents the results of an experimental study of the chemical composition of steel wires from ropes of various origins using the electron probe microanalysis method. The objective of the analysis was to substantiate the selection of a material for integration into the rope core as a sensitive element of a load control system. It was found that the iron content in the third sample is approximately 69%, which is significantly lower than in the wires of the first and second samples (up to 96%). It has been established that wires with a lower iron content and, presumably, a higher content of zinc and carbon possess increased flexibility. Based on this data, the article proposes a novel design for a traction rope, equipped with an integrated load control system. The system includes a two-core wire, made of a metal whose properties correspond to the wires of the third sample, but encased in an elastic sheath and placed in the core. Monitoring is carried out by supplying an electrical signal, the magnitude of which changes when the rope deforms under load. The change in the electrical resistance of the wire, caused by its stretching, allows for load control. If the permissible load is exceeded, a radio signal is automatically transmitted for emergency braking. The flexibility of the wires from the third sample allows them to be considered as a potential material for the sensitive element in the core, as they can withstand significant deformation without failure. The proposed technical solution (Patent No. 2221 KR) is aimed at extending the service life and reducing operating costs by preventing emergency situations caused by rope overload.
