Abstract

This paper is devoted to research into improving the efficiency of crushing and grinding equipment using patented design solutions. A new technological solution for the disintegration of rocks and a rotary millcrusher (MDR) have been developed and patented, combining the processes of self-grinding and impact destruction of lump ore materials. The new mill is designed to use lump ore feedstock, allowing for the combination of crushing and grinding processes in a single unit. This increases overall crushing efficiency and simplifies the ore preparation process by reducing the number of processing stages. To implement this concept, a pilot model of a new MDR mill in a batch configuration was developed, designed, and manufactured. Preliminary process tests on ore material up to 20 mm in size revealed that the new MDR mill achieves the most effective crushing results with feed ore sizes greater than 5 mm, with a significant increase in the yield of fine fractions. This confirms the feasibility of effectively combining crushing and grinding processes in a single crushing and grinding unit. Based on the results of the research conducted on an experimental sample of a periodic MDR mill, the authors proposed and patented a continuous MDR mill with timely removal of finished grinding products.
The research was carried out within the state assignment of Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (theme No. FWRS-2026-0056, reg. No. 126021217276-7).
