Abstract

A system of actions to ensure efficient surface roughness of sheet steel was proposed and tested. The tolerance limits for sheet steel surface roughness parameters must be to determinated taking into account their impact both on product quality parameters and on indicators of its production efficiency. In order to ensure a reliable assessment of the surface microgeometry as a whole, it is necessary to perform measurements at several sites distributed over the diagonal of evaluated surface. It was indicated that into rational initial surface roughness of work rolls during the period between replacement of rolls, metal surface roughness must be corresponds to the range of efficient values, and root-mean-square error relative to some reasonable value is minimal. A model of strip surface roughness formation in the deformation zone during rolling and skin-pass rolling, which displays the result of roughness formation through variables invariant to the process conditions, has been substantiated and developed. The effectiveness of the model was confirmed by an industrial experiment to regulating the surface roughness of the black plate by redistributing the shares of total reduction between the stands of a two-stand skinpass rolling mill.
