Abstract

Well-timed advancing of geological survey and mining operations requires the integrated power and heat supply management. The analysis of energy and resources consumed in drilling shows that energy consumption has a substantial influence on operating cost of drilling equipment. Over the recent years, after an upsurge in prices of fuel and energy, the costs of drilling jumped. The increase of the drilling cost is particularly appreciable in cold seasons, for instance, heat energy required for drilling in the autumn and winter periods scales up the total energy cost. The key objective of the research implemented by the authors is enhancing performance of exploration drilling equipment through the increased efficiency owing to utilization of secondary and renewable energy sources, and due to decreased energy cost. A fuel- and energy-saving technological facility is developed on the basis of beneficial utilization of heat generated by drive of a diesel power plant of drilling rigs. The assembly of beneficial utilization of secondary energy, with an ejection nozzle, allows decreasing consumption of fuel by the drilling equipment compressor by 10–12 % owing to a decreased resistance created by a heat exchanger to exhaust gas flow. In addition, the efficiency of a drilling rig grows by 10 % thanks to recuperation of secondary energy resources.
