The methods of removing of zinc coating from steel base that are used in the world practice have been analyzed. The scheme of preparation of galvanized steel scrap for its using as charge material in induction melting facilities at self foundry production at a machine-building plant is proposed. The peculiarities of the basic parameters of the process of chemical refining of galvanized steel scrap by a 9% water solution of hydrochloric acid with hexamethylenetetramine as short stopping agent are considered. An option of arranging a site for refining of galvanized steel scrap in the existing foundry machine-building enterprise is given. Options of using a by-product from the realization of the scheme (zinc chloride) in mould technologies are proposed. The suggested method of zinc coating removal is characterized by several advantages: higher power efficiency; lowering of electric power consumption for preparing of charge material from galvanized steel wastes; resource-saving owing to return of industrial wastes in the production chain of the enterprise; implementation of the process at the own production site; relatively small financial expenses. Putting into practice is in the process now at the production sites in Privolzhskiy Federal District.
