The article aims to develop a calculation procedure for ore extraction indices in the increased height slicing system. Mir kimberlite pipe is a steeply dipping body shaped as V at the top and cylindrical at the bottom, on the depth interval of 0–600 m. At first, Mir Mine accepted the system of mining by the descending slicing, with mechanical breaking of ore and with full backfilling. Later on, the Mine changed to the system of slicing with the increased height slices. This technological change resulted in ore loss and dilution. As a consequence, it was necessary to amend the ore loss and dilution regulation procedure and to adapt the procedure to mining conditions. Regarding the mining system in use, the structural elements, where loss and dilution formed, were identified, the places and sources of loss and dilution were determined in specific structural elements, the causes and conditions of ore loss and dilution were revealed for each place and source, the dependences of ore loss and dilution on geological and geotechnical factors were found, and ore loss and dilution were classified based on the places and sources. The relations to calculate interaction of loss and dilution of ore are derived. The developed procedure and software for the calculation of ore loss and dilution standards are duly approved and introduced in mining practice.
