Participation of M. M. Kirievsky, Senior Lecturer, KSTU, in preparation of this article is appreciated. One of the important tasks of vehicle transport in open pit mines in the Republic of Kazakhstan is improvement of reliability of dump trucks and reduction in their maintenance cost. Organization and management of data base on functional reliability of assemblies, units and parts of open pit mine machines as an efficient tool of technical state control ensures high mechanical availability and performance efficiency of the machines. Reliability is inseparably connected with acquisition, processing and analysis of the related information. The reasonable decision-making requires that primary paperwork data is authentic, which sets stringent requirements for the data processing and analysis. It is highly important to have true data on reliability of dump trucks. These data inform on technical state of machines, maintenance and repair, quality of performance of engaged executors and are the basis for operational managerial decisions. Furthermore, such information enables detecting causes of failure, fault and downtime, and reveals their mechanisms. Thereupon, measures to be undertaken to maintain serviceable conditions of dump trucks are elaborated and upgraded. For acquisition, processing and analysis of data on dump truck reliability, the method of corrective maintenance of utility vehicles in mining was developed. Corrective maintenance of a group of dump trucks or a whole population of machines in a mine provides specific indices of reliability of carrying equipment and specific costs connected with the maintenance. Moreover, this method offers an opportunity to develop standards of further improvement in work of subdivisions and to solve on-the-fly vital issues of operation of the motor vehicles. The procedure is supported with the developed dedicated software for processing of statistical information, identification of sources of data on dump truck reliability (distance run, faults, downtime, cost etc) and determination of volume of sufficient information to ensure reliability and accuracy.
