Currently, the Belgorod Region is one of the most rapidly developing areas in Russian Federation. Sustainable development is conditioned by natural management methods aimed at preservation of natural landscape, biological diversity and maintenance of the environment. The article describes the regional experience gained in the natural management. Characteristics of regional programs and projects on beautification and landscaping of population centers, forestation of erosion-hazardous areas, biologizing of agriculture, erosion protection of soil and watershed management are given. It is outlined how the region deals with disposal of especially hazardous waste (mercury-bearing fluorescent lamps and luminescent facilities, industrial oil, spent tires, etc.). Currently, the region is finalizing the system of collection of human and industrial waste, the waste processing and manufacturing of high quality products that are in demand on the regional market and in the other areas of Russia. The related regulatory and legal framework has been developed to administer the functions of participators of the related activity.
