Abstract

The article presents the performance of the Belgorod State National Research University (BelGU) that trains highly knowledgeable specialists in various branches of economy and service industry not only for the Belgorod Region but for the entire area of the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly. Today the University educates more than 27 thousand students from 83 regions of Russia, 715 postgraduates and 19 doctoral students, including 1005 students from 76 countries of the world. The educational and scientific work is executed by 246 doctors of sciences and 926 candidates of sciences at 102 chairs. The scientific work comprises 43 research trends and a listed officially scientific school. The University consists of 65 educational and research divisions, including 3 multi-access centers, 21 research laboratories, 41 research and education centers. The largest centers are the Center for Nanostructural Materials and Nanotechnologies, BelGU Research Equipment Sharing Center “Diagnostics of Structure and Properties of Geomaterials,” Preclinical Trial Center, National-Regional Center for Aerospace and Surface Monitoring of Subjects and Natural Resources. The University quality management system is recognized by 35 countries–partners within the IQNet international net of certification in planning, development and implementation of secondary-level, higher and postgraduate education and additional training, as well as in research and innovation activities. Under the system of mining-and-geological education, considering foreign experience, a framework fellowship agreement has been entered into by BelGU and TU Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany). Relationships are established with universities and academic institutions in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, USA and Poland.
