Реферат

The Kursk Magnetic Anomaly (KMA) is the world’s largest iron ore province holding over 60 billion tonnes of explored reserves. NIIKMA has been operating since 1951. At present the institute carries out research work in the following fields of science: mining technology, rational utilization of natural resources, environment protection. In 2013 the Belgorod Region has produced almost 40 Bt of the highest quality ore in Russia. As compared to the early stage, the production output enjoys 200 times upgrowth and is 38.5% of the total ore production in Russia. Sustainable development of the KMA area with its ample mineral resources is only possible with the rational natural management and handling of interrelated engineering, legal, ecological, social-and economic and organizational problems. The most significant developments of NIIKMA for the recent decade include:
— the geological and technological justification of mineability of the Vislovskoe bauxite deposit under tapered surface;
— the waste-free technology of iron ore concentration for the KMAruda Integrated Plant.
For the ecology problem solution, the NIIKMA Institute has the Science and Ecology Center (SEC). Its objectives are the sustainable development strategy for the Belgorod Region based on the rational subsoil use; improvement of the existing technologies and development of new techniques in mineral mining and processing; substantiation and selection of rational reclamation methods for lands and terrains disturbed by mining; protection of the environment from iron ore mining and processing waste.
