Abstract

The article unfolds the history of the TsentrGiproRuda Institute engaged in planning and design of mines and processing plants in the area of the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly. The advanced design solutions of the institute for over 50 years of activity include:
- Application of mining equipment of high unit capacity in overburden removal and in actual mining;
- Design of rational opening schemes;
- Design of the integrated deposit development system aimed at overburden processing for construction purposes;
- Introduction of the integrated industrial process control;
- Elaboration of rational schemes of general mine planning in anticipation of further development and expansion of mines;
- Use of autogenous milling of iron ore, utilization of the domestic manufacture railway transport equipped with 10 kW alternating current traction machines and heavy duty dump cars 105 and 180 t in capacity.
The author highlights the main projects developed by the institute’s design engineers in various spheres of activity of the complex system of mining industry situated at the center of the Russian Federation. Specialties of the institute’s design engineers are listed, and the skills of the engineers developing project documents and working documentation are illustrated. The institute’s fledging period and state-of-the art are described. The capabilities of TsentrGiproRuda LLC for implementing various projects are exposed.
