Abstract

Initial ore in widely applied process of magnetic separation is delivered to working zone, characterizing by maximal tension of magnetic field and, respectively, maximal ponderomotive force. According to this, maximal specific productivity of separator is substantiated, but selectivity of process (in connection with mechanical catch of quartz by magnetite flocules) is decreased. The process selectivity is decreased by pulp processing in special apparatuses (floculators) and mechanical mixing of floculed pulp before its delivery to separator. At the same time, smooth increasing of magnetic field intensity in separator is significant. Initial product in offered method moves in air-gap between magnetic system and pulp in the free fall mode under the gravity influence. Magnetic field intensity in working area is smoothly changed from zero to maximum and to zero again. Concentration experiments of magnetite ore on simultaneously operating unit gave positive technological effect. Students of Krivoi Rog National University – S. Borovik, A. Pimenov and G. Sidorova – were the participants of this work. Chemical and sieve analysis were carried out in laboratories of Institute «Mekhanobrchermet». Experimental part was carried out on equipment of this institute.
