Detailed analysis of the impact of various factors on noise emitted by the flame furnace was conducted. Different kinds of noise in flame furnaces are considered: mechanical (technological equipment), aerodynamic (flow of gas-air mix out of burners) and thermal (generated during fuel burning). It was established that noise level in flame furnaces depends on consumption of fuel mix, technological conditions of flow of this mix, length of jet, kind of fuel, restricting walls for jet, interaction between diff erent jets, as well as on general technological parameters, such as furnace load mass, heating temperature, kind of furnace and number of burners. It is shown that reduction of noise produced by the flame furnaces can be achieved with technological and constructive ways. Several methods of noise reduction are considered, among them usage of oxygen burning technology, choosing burners with less noise level, optimization of heating technology and furnace working space. Different techniques of noise lowering in flame furnaces are comparatively analyzed and reduction of fuel consumption is accepted as one of the most eff ective technological methods. It is shown by calculation that it is possible to provide sanitary norms of noise by selection of the appropriate design of the furnace: equipping it with flameless burners, using of ceramic fibrous lining as thermal insulation and ensuring the impermeability of the working space of the furnace.
