The article presents the results of the studies on diisobutyldithiophosphenate interaction with sulfide surface, containing emulsion-disseminated gold. Monomineral samples of pyrite from different deposits, containing emulsion-disseminated gold, that had been artificially provided, were used as material for the studies. The method of applying emulsion gold on pyrite surface is described in detail. Using Fourier infrared spectroscopy, as well as electron and optical microscopy, new data on selective interaction of diisobutyldithiophosphenate reagent with gold
were obtained. Infrared spectra of pyrite with gold, after treatment by diisobutyldithiophosphenate reagent, show bonding at approximately 669 cm–1, which is present on diisobutyldithiophosphenate reagent, however, this bonding was not found in spectra of pyrite without gold. Scanning electron micrographs of pyrite surface with emulsion-disseminated gold demonstrate dark spots of organic compound. X-ray spectrum of that section showed presence of characteristic phosphorus peak, giving evidence of diisobutyldithiophosphenate organic compound formation with gold, and, as a consequence, indicating selective formation of sorption layer on metal surface. The obtained data were corroborated by studies on natural sample of pyrite intergrowths with gold. So, diisobutyldithiophosphenate reagent may be recommended as an additional collector in sulfide goldbearing ores flotation that will promote recovery of free gold and sulfides, containing emulsiondis seminated gold.
