Tsvetnye Metally

The December issue of Tsvetnye Metally is fully about the Gipronikel Institute. The issue features articles authored mainly by the Institute’s research staff with contribution from experts and designers of Norilsk Nickel. The topics covered include monitoring of the rock mass status, concentration of ores mined in the Norilsk Industrial Area and the Kola Peninsula, geological mapping, continuous converting of copper mattes and concentrates (and certain aspects of the process), hydrometallurgical studies that look at copper concentrate processing and copper electrowinning, certain problems of analytical chemistry, and application of SWOT analysis in metallurgy.

Norilsk Nickel is currently engaged in implementing a major investment programme that is to end in 2030 and that encompasses a great number of projects aimed at increasing the ore output, revamping the processing facilities, expanding the product assortment and tackling the environmental issues faced by Norilsk and the Kola Peninsula sites. The Institute’s experts are striving to optimize the processes that are to be adopted under the investment programme. All this is covered in the current issue.
