Tsvetnye Metally

The April issue of Tsvetnye Metally begins with a paper by B. A. Kotlyar regarding the opportunities of social partnership during this special period, given the coronavirus pandemic ripping around the world, a sharp decline in oil prices, entailing serious difficulties for companies of mining and metallurgy sectors. Based on the data analysis, the paper contains suggestions for improving methods of organization of salary payment to working employees of enterprises and shops, such as methods of improving the differentiation in labor payment, while increasing minimum salary.

We continue publishing papers on improving production processes in JSC Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company, featuring, in particular, development and introduction of an automatic system of optimum matte crushing control.

It should be mentioned that in spring of 2020 the 90th anniversary was marked by the legendary Department of Non-Ferrous Metallurgy, Ural Federal University (former Ural Polytechnic Institute), headed by outstanding scientists, well-known not only in the Ural Region, but also in this vast country, namely V. I. Smirnov, I. F. Khudyakov, S. S. Naboichenko. Over these years, the department graduates include many top-level specialists. In addition to a historical review prepared by the head of the department, the journal contains a paper of the teachers of the department regarding current academic pursuits on autoclave oxidation leaching ofchalcopyrite concentrates proving that the department flourishes and remains one of the leaders in the research and education community of non-ferrous metallurgy.

As usual, the issue contains a very serious and currently important paper jointly prepared by researchers of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) and VIAM (All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials), illustrating changes in texture, structure and properties of new titanium alloys during plastic deformation and heat treatment.

The editorial board cannot but mention the 75th Anniversary of the Great Victory: the issue includes many papers commemorated to this event. Metallurgists made a great contribution to this Victory. The papers by the authors from Saint Petersburg, Siberia and Moscow support this fact.
