Metrological support of metallurgical and machine-building production significantly defines increase in safety and competitiveness of metallurgical products. The competent staff on metallurgical production has to have a complex of knowledge in the field of metallurgy and technology of mechanical engineering and the practical skills of work necessary for the solution of professional tasks. Therefore for implementation of requirements for quality management of metallurgical products, to metrological support and the required reliability at the metallurgical enterprise analysed the existing standards regarding confi rmation of coherence of requirements. For carrying out the analysis federal state educational standards of the higher education in the different directions of preparation, all levels (a bachelor degree, a magistracy and a specialist programme), various orientations (profiles) and specializations are selected. Allocated for the comparative analysis of competence, belonging to metallurgy and metallurgical metals and alloys products regarding metrological support. Subsequently systemically analyzed coherence of these requirements and provisions of national standards of the state system of ensuring unity of measurements (GSOEI) and the professional standard of the expert in metrology. The received analytical results were used during the developing, approbation and introduction of the program of professional retraining of employees of the metallurgical and machine-building industry. It was revealed that creation of the program of increase in qualification by the modular principle is more productive. Because of a signifi cant role of structure of metals and alloys in metallurgy, and her behavior all repartitions, included the subjects "Defects of Casting and Methods of Their Detection» and "Defects of OMD and Methods of Their Detection" with obligatory illumination of the questions connected with measuring devices and devices of automatic control in the working program of the corresponding module. Also surely included the subject "The Main Activities in the fi eld of Metrological Support of the Metallurgical Enterprise" in this or other corresponding module of the working program. In the annex to the developed and implemented programs surely gave examples of estimated materials for carrying out both intermediate, and a fi nal assessment of listeners.
