Chernye Metally

The eleventh issue of the journal "Chernye Metally" is opened by a selection of articles dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the chair for metal working process of the Lipetsk State Technical University (LSTU). The section presents a historical sketch of the development and achievements of the scientific school of rollermen of the LSTU, as well as the latest developments of chair`s representatives together with universities and companies. The authors considered the effect of deformation-speed mode of hot rolling in a broad-strip mill finishing group on the structure of St3sp steel. Representatives of the LSTU and NLMK developed and tested a new form of groove for vertical rolls of the universal stand №1 of the hot rolling mill 2000, which enables to reduce strip near edge defects. Authors from LSTU and Czestochowa Technological University (Poland) described a mathematical prediction model for dynamic recrystallization during hot deformation of carbon and low alloy steels. In the joint work the authors from LSTU and Donbass STU presented a computer application for calculating indicators of metallurgical equipment reliability and production risk in the metallurgical industry based on a mathematical model using failure factors based on technical and personal reasons. The professor of the chair for metal forming process presented a mathematical model for forming flatness in the strips of electrical isotropic steel of 1-4 alloying groups during heat treatment in a continuous annealing plant of a horizontal type.

The traditional section "Production of cast iron" addresses topical issues: the influence of magnesia components of various chemical and mineralogical composition on the indicators of sinter production from KMA ores in terms of JSC Ural Steel; analysis of coal selection criteria for the pulverized coal; innovative system for measuring the level of molten iron and slag.

In the section "Continuous Casting and Foundry" experts of Vyksa Metallurgical Plant during the study of metal pollution by oxide non-metallic inclusions, the cause of which is the secondary oxidation of steel at its movement from the casting ladle to the caster`s mold, presented thermodynamic calculations of the oxygen supply through the slag to the metal and estimated the fraction of the effect of metal oxidation through air, oxygen and lining in the caster.

In the “Pipe Production” section, specialists of NRTU MISiS and RosNITI presented techniques, the implementation of which in the form of algorithms and mathematical models allows to calculate by the largest depth of lowering and tilting punch relative to the longitudinal axis and the longitudinal bending of the supports to determine the boundaries of the deformation zone, the width and radius of the sheet side edge at subsequent forming the sheet blank at each step on the press step molding.

The section “Metallurgy and metallography” presents two publications of domestic researchers. Works are devoted to modern methods of metallographic assessment of non-metallic inclusions in wheel steels, as well as the results of the industrial implementation of the method of slag deoxidation in the production of ingots from low-alloyed, high-chromium and titanium-alloyed steels.
